Vines can cover and eventually kill a tree if left
Many species of ornamental plants, especially decorative vines, have been introduced into South Florida. Vines are a major nuisance and if left unchecked will eventually kill a tree. This is a perfect example of what a vine can do in a short space of time. We probably walked past this vine many times without noticing it as the green color blends in so nicely with the tree. One must be very careful to not only cut the stem but physically remove the vine from the tree. The remaining portion of the vine will send down shoots that re-attach it to the ground.
In this case we had to pull the plug and leave the vine in the tree because there were so many bees actively pollinating flowers.
