Citrus root weevils are a major problem for juveni
The citrus root weevil, Diaprepes abbreviatus (a member of the Coleoptera family) attacks the new growth on lychees. Large trees can tolerate this attaack however the growth of younger trees will be severely impaired when new growth is constantly being destroyed by these weevils. The larvae of the root weevil also damages the roots of many trees including the lychee. Diaprepes is a major pest in South Florida, particularly to the citrus industry.
