This nasty critter damages new growth flushes on lychees. The larvae of this weevil matures in the soil and eats the tree roots. There are few natural pests of this weevil although there are several promising methods of control one of which involves the treatment of the soil with a parasitic nematode. Adult weevils tend to congregate on particular trees and when threatened they all fall off the tree.
